Frequently Asked Questions

Is virtual therapy confidential?

Yes. Your demographics and therapy information are considered sensitive health information, which is protected from disclosure by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). All written therapy communication becomes part of the clinical record, which is accessible to you (the client) upon request. Your therapist will keep confidential anything you say as part of the counseling relationship, with the following exceptions: (a) you direct your therapist in writing to disclose information to someone else, such as another healthcare provider, (b) it is determined you are a danger to yourself or others (including child abuse, elder abuse, or abuse of an individual with a disability), or (c) your therapist is ordered by a court to disclose information.

Is nature therapy confidential?

Yes. Your therapist will make every effort to preserve client confidentiality and privacy while conducting walk/talk/nature therapy sessions. There is always the possibility that during nature therapy, you may come into contact with someone you know. If that happens, you have the right to choose whether to disclose, or not disclose, that you are in a therapy session. Your therapist will follow your guidance in that situation. If preferred by you, your therapist will not acknowledge you as a client, nor will they acknowledge the walk/talk/nature therapy session.

This means depending on the Tricare program, therapy might be fully reimbursed (Reserve Select) or partly reimbursed up to half the fee (Prime).
